Currently to be found in Brussels (Belgium), Laila grew up in the faraway lands of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Her research is founded on the human body; using contemporary circus, acrobatic movement, costume and aerial spaces to create a form of visual poetry. She creates with a strong socio-cultural influence, notably in relation to gender, feminism and the environment.

In November 2021 she graduated from a circus arts degree at ésac (école supérieure des arts du cirque), where she specialised in dance trapeze. Her current artistic work includes creating and performing with circus companies La Lune Bleue and Soif Totale. She will also be an artist in the trapeze collective WITCHES directed by Elodie Doñaque.
